This was the second chapter of my PhD. The paper reported on the catch composition of sharks and rays in the East Coast Inshore Finfish Fishery (ECIFF) that operates in the inshore regions of Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The data were from a two year fishery observer survey that was part of a project led by one of my PhD supervisors, Dr Andrew Tobin. This was the first comprehensive survey of the shark component of the fishery and covered the many diverse harvesting practices and small seasonal fisheries within the ECIFF.
